Online Tajweed Classes

Recite the Quran the way it was revealed. Learn every Tajweed rule live, one-to-one, with colour-coded highlighting and instant correction from your teacher.

Tajweed is the science of reciting the Quran precisely as it was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) — giving every letter its right, from the correct articulation point to the correct duration and characteristics. Reciting with Tajweed is how the meaning is preserved and the beauty of the recitation comes alive. At Maktab Quran you learn it through live, one-to-one lessons where your teacher listens closely and corrects you in the moment.

Who should take Tajweed classes

Tajweed is for anyone who can already read the Quran but wants to recite it correctly and beautifully. If you make mistakes you cannot hear yourself, rush your elongations, or were never taught the rules formally, this course is for you. It suits older children, teenagers and adults alike.

The rules you will master

See the rules, don't just hear them

Tajweed is famously hard to grasp from audio alone. Our synchronized classroom makes the rules visible: as your teacher explains a Madd, the elongated letters are highlighted; when a Ghunna is held, you see exactly where. You literally watch the rule on the page while you apply it with your voice — and your teacher corrects the smallest slip instantly, something no recorded course can do.

How lessons work

With 5 live 30-minute classes a week, a typical Tajweed lesson blends theory and application: your teacher introduces a rule, shows you real examples in the Quran, and then has you recite while they correct. Over time you move rule by rule through the whole system, always applying what you learn to actual verses rather than memorizing definitions in the abstract.

Pairs perfectly with

Tajweed works beautifully alongside Hifz — memorizing with correct recitation from day one — and with Tafsir so you understand the verses you are perfecting. Not yet reading fluently? Start with Noorani Qaida first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to read the Quran already before starting Tajweed?

Yes — Tajweed refines how you recite, so you should be able to read Arabic script first. If you cannot yet, begin with our Noorani Qaida course and move to Tajweed afterwards.

Can I improve my recitation even if I have recited for years?

Definitely. Many long-time reciters carry small mistakes they have never heard. One-to-one Tajweed with live correction is the fastest way to identify and fix them.

Is the colour-coded highlighting a tagged Mushaf?

Our live highlighting is a teaching aid your teacher controls in real time to point out where a rule applies. It complements — and is guided by — a qualified teacher rather than replacing them.

How long until I recite with proper Tajweed?

Most students notice clear improvement within weeks, while completing the full set of rules takes several months of consistent practice. Your teacher paces the course to you.

Are there female Tajweed teachers?

Yes. Many of our teachers specialise in teaching female students, and you can filter for them in the teacher directory.
